The Best Approach For "Speed Kills"
« Thread Started on Nov 2, 2009, 6:11pm »

I've ben' working on "Speed Kills" For a little over month and only working on the exercises pertaining to exercise #5 plus ex.#5. It will most likely take me well over a year or more to really shred #5.... If I'm lucky...lol.... Should I skip ahead and start working on all the exercises? At what point do you move forward?

Thanks,
-Keniko-

Work on all of them every day/week... don't stick to one, always practice multiple things every day and work to improve them ALL together. Improve does not mean speed btw, it means everything, your time, control, dynamic control, articulation, etc.

Hey Thanks Guys, Cool. I'll start working on all of the exercises. Yeah, Speed Kills has really exposed some weakness in my picking. I've always learned things slow and then brought them to speed. But with Speed Kills, it's made me focus more and pay attention to what both hands are telling me. Picking slowly as you would fast has helped a lot in my attention. I'm really concentrating on everything. Proper hand placement and wrist motion. It's working. I first started at 60bpm and now I'm up to 125bpm. Also, I'm starting to lose that twitch I had in my picking hand. (See Thread "My Picking Technique") Again, really paying attention has payed off. I'm not taking picking for granted as I have in the past and realized picking is everything. Plus, my wrist is looser for rhythm playing and my rhythm seems to feel and flow better. Thanks again -Keniko-
