He's been with them for a long time. It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Yngwie just played the catering hall that is owned by CEO of Dean Guitars, Elliott Rubinson last month too.
He signed autographs at the Sam Ash (literally next door to Elliott's place) and then headed over to the Kapok Pavillion and performed in the same room where DOA takes place every year.

Well not so much for reselling it but more of just to have one. I might pick another one up eventually. I only traded mine because it wasn't balanced at all with my bridge pup.

Quoting Larry DiMarzio --
"Yngwie Malmsteen is no longer a DiMarzio endorser. DiMarzio will continue to manufacture the pickups and guitar straps that he endorsed minus the YJM designation and, in some cases, with a change in the model name or part numbers.
The DP217 (formerly the YJM™) is now called the HS-4™. Only the name has changed. The YJM™ ClipLock® (DD2230YJM) and YJM™ Standard Guitar Strap (DD3310YJM), are now named the Cheetah ClipLock® (DD2230CH) and Cheetah Standard Guitar Strap (DD3310CH). Only the names have changed. The pre-wired pickguard YJM™ Setup is now named the HS™ Setup and contains the HS-4™ (formerly YJM™) in the neck and middle positions and the HS-3™ in the bridge position. Only the name has changed. The Yngwie Malmsteen Signature™ Cable has been discontinued."

Hmm. Maybe he's got something in the works with Dean guitars? That would be cool...

funny about the dean comment, someone told me they seen Kerry King plying a Dean on stage this past tour, I wonder if it's true. That would be sweet.

Strange that he and DiMarzio parted ways. I was thinking, maybe, Fender would start making his pups. They have some good ones. But, maybe, with Drew mentioning all this "near Elloit" stuff... there could be a whole new deal under works? The new line of YJM Strats are way to expensive, for the average bear, that is. Maybe, if he went with another company he would get a Sig model a little more reasonably priced? But, to see Yngwie not dawning a Fender would take some getting used to. Hopefully, they'll come up with a completely new design and his Strat will become easily forgettable. I never really cared for the plain jane look of a Fender Strat anyway. Not that they haven't made some good quality guitars.. I have played some really great feeling/sounding ones, but the look just doesn't appeal to me, and I am not big on pick guards. The body style is pretty blah as well. But, that is just a personal opinion/taste. With Yngwie being in Florida and Dean being in Florida it would seem convenient for them to work together. Guess we'll see, huh? But it is hard to imagine Fender and Yngwie parting ways... but it was hard to imagine DiMarzio and him splitting ways as well.

If G&L are still ran by the same people, that would be the only place that I'd think he'd go. and hey Drew or Mike, have you guys heard anything about King and hannaman going to Dean? I know you guys always get the good scoop on things.

I, and Drew if I'm reading between the lines correctly, think/assume he'll use Fender PICKUPS from now on too.
There's no sense in using another pickup-specific company since I doubt they'll give him the freedom he had with DiMarzio, but with Fender where he already has a sig guitar... makes sense. |
|
Very true. I was just hoping he'd get a cooler looking guitar and pickup (Dean) LOL.
